নূরুল ইসলাম: পুরোপুরি নয়, আংশিক স্বপ্ন পূরণ হচ্ছে উত্তরবঙ্গবাসীর। ইন্দোনেশিয়ার লালসবুজ কোচ না পেলেও সাদা কোচ পাচ্ছে রংপুর এক্সপ্রেস। একই সাথে ঢাকা-চট্টগ্রাম রেলপথের মহানগর এক্সপ্রেস পাচ্ছে সাদা কোচ। প্রভাতী, গোধূলী ও তূর্ণা নিশীথার অবমুক্ত কোচগুলো এই দুই ট্রেনকে দেয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত চূড়ান্ত হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছেন রেলমন্ত্রী একান্ত সচিব (পিএস) কিবরিয়া মজুমদার। রেলমন্ত্রী মোঃ মুজিবুল হক একই দিনে সাদা কোচের দুটি ট্রেন উদ্বোধন করবেন। তবে রেলওয়ে সূত্র জানায়, উদ্বোধনের সম্ভাব্য তারিখ ৬ ফেব্রুয়ারি ধরা হলেও এখনও তা চূড়ান্ত হয়নি। ২০১১ সালের ২১ আগস্ট ঢাকা-রংপুর রেলপথে চালু হওয়া রংপুর এক্সপ্রেস প্রায় সাড়ে ৫ বছর ধরে চলছে পাহাড়তলী ওয়ার্কশপে মেরামত করা অতি পুরাতন ইরানী কোচ দিয়ে। সদ্য অবমুক্ত সাদা কোচগুলো প্রায় ১০ বছর আগে চীন থেকে আমদাফন করা। তারপরেও পুরাতন কোচে খুশি রংপুরবাসী। নিয়মিত এই ট্রেনে যাতায়াত করেন রংপুরের লিয়াকত হোসেন। সাদা কোচের কথা শুনে তিনি বলেন, ‘হামরা তাও খুশি বাহে’। ইন্দোনেশিয়া থেকে আমদানিকৃত মিটার গেজের লালসবুজ কোচের বণ্টন শেষ। নতুন করে আর কোনো মিটার গেজ ট্রেন লালসবুজ কোচ পাবে না। রেল সূত্র জানায়, যাত্রীদের চাহিদানুযায়ী ঢাকা-সিলেট এবং সিলেট-চট্টগ্রাম রুটের কয়েকটি ট্রেনের কোচ সংখ্যা বাড়ানো হবে।
শুরুতে ১১টি কোচ দিয়ে যাত্রা শুরু করে রংপুর এক্সপ্রেস। এরপর লোড কমিয়ে কোচের সংখ্যা ৯টি করা হয়। শুরুতে এসি কোচ থাকলেও পরে তাও ছিল না। নতুন সাদা কোচের বহরে এসি কেবিন কোচও থাকবে বলে রেল সূত্র নিশ্চিত করেছে। এরশাদ সরকারের আমলে ১৯৮৬ সালের ১৬ মার্চ চালু হওয়া তিস্তা এক্সপ্রেস ছিল উত্তরবঙ্গের সাথে ঢাকার রেল যোগাযোগের প্রথম ট্রেন। দিনাজপুর থেকে পার্ব্বতীপুর ও রংপুর হয়ে গাইবান্ধার তিস্তামুখঘাট পর্যন্ত চলতো ট্রেনটি। তিস্তা চালু হওয়ার পর যাত্রীরা হুমড়ি খেয়ে পড়ে। যাত্রীর চাহিদা দেখে রেল কর্তৃপক্ষ একই রুটে আরেকটি আন্তঃনগর ট্রেন একতা এক্সপ্রেস চালু করে। বিএনপি সরকারের আমলে ২০০৫ সালের ২৫ জুলাই তিস্তামুখঘাট-বাহাদুরাবাদ ঘাট রেলওয়ে ফেরি সার্ভিস বন্ধ করে দেয়া হয়। তিস্তার নাম পরিবর্তন করে রাখা হয় দোলনচাঁপা এক্সপ্রেস। এই ট্রেনের যাত্রাপথ নির্ধারণ করা হয় দিনাজপুর থেকে রংপুর হয়ে প্রথমে বোনারপাড়া এবং পরে বগুড়া হয়ে সান্তাহার পর্যন্ত। একই সাথে একতা এক্সপ্রেসকে দিনাজপুর থেকে রংপুরের দিকে থেকে ঘুরিয়ে সান্তাহার-ঈশ্বরদী হয়ে ঢাকার দিকে যাত্রাপথ নির্ধারণ করা হয়। এতে করে রংপুরবাসীরা ঢাকার সাথে রেল যোগেযাগের ক্ষেত্রে একেবার বঞ্চিত হয়। রাজধানীর সাথে রেল যোগাযোগের জন্য একটা ট্রেনের দাবিতে আন্দোলন শুরু করে রংপুরবাসী। ২০১১ সালে আওয়ামী লীগ সরকার রংপুরকে নতুন বিভাগ ঘোষণার পর ট্রেনের দাবিতে আন্দোলন নতুন মাত্রা পায়। ২০ বছরের আন্দোলনের ফসল হিসেবে ২০১১ সালের ২১ আগস্ট রংপুরবাসী পায় তাদের স্বপ্নের ‘রংপুর এক্সপ্রেস’। ওই দিন বিকেল ৪টায় ২৯১১ নম্বরের লোকোমোটিভ (ইঞ্জিন) নিয়ে হুইসেল বাজাতে বাজাতে ট্রেনটি যখন রংপুর স্টেশনে পৌঁছায় তখন রংপুরবাসীর আনন্দের সীমা ছিল না। গাইবান্ধার বাসিন্দা নাজমুল হক বলেন, সেই আনন্দ ক্রমে মøান হয়ে আসে রেল কর্তৃপক্ষের অবহেলার কারণে। ঢাকা থেকে রংপুর দীর্ঘ ৩১৩ কিলোটিমার পথ ভ্রমণের জন্য ন্যূনতম সুযোগ-সুবিধা ট্রেনটিতে ছিল না বললেই চলে। তবে ভালো দিক হলো ট্রেনটির গতিবেগ সুবর্ণর মতো ঘণ্টায় ৭২ কিলোমিটার এবং যাত্রাপথে বিরতি কম। ৩১৩ কিলোমিটার পথ চলার সয় ঢাকা থেকে ছেড়ে ট্রেনটি মোট ১৩টি স্টেশনে থামে। ঢাকার আসার পথে ১৪টিতে। এ কারণে অনেকেই এই ট্রেনে ভ্রমণ করতে পছন্দ করেন।
কুড়িগ্রামের বাসিন্দা মোবারক আলী জানান, অনেকটা সময় মেনে চললেও ট্রেনের কোচের মান লোকাল ট্রেনের মতো। বাথরুমগুলো থাকে অপরিষ্কার, লাইটগুলো সময়মতো জ্বলে না, ফ্যান ঠিকমতো চলে না, জানালাগুলো একবার খুললে আর লাগানো যায় না। চলন্ত ট্রেনে হকার, ভিক্ষুক, হিজড়াদের উৎপাত লেগেই থাকে। এটেনডেন্টরা বিনা টিকেটের যাত্রী তুলতে ব্যস্ত সময় কাটায়। ট্রেনের যাত্রীদের দিকে তাদের কোনো নজর থাকে নাÑ আরও কতো কি। রেলমন্ত্রীর একান্ত ইচ্ছায় এসব সমস্যার অনেকটাই সমাধান হতে চলেছে। নতুন কোচে রংপুর এক্সপ্রেসে এসব সমস্যা থাকবে না বলে জানালেন রেলমন্ত্রীর একান্ত সচিব কিবরিয়া মজুমদার। তিনি বলেন, যাত্রীদের সেবার মান বাড়ানোর লক্ষ্যেই আমাদের মাননীয় রেলমন্ত্রী রাতদিন পরিশ্রম করে চলেছেন। মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর নির্দেশনা ও রেলমন্ত্রীর ঐকান্তিক প্রচেষ্টায় রেলের যাত্রীসেবার মান বেড়েছে। আগামীতে আরও বাড়বে।
