নরসিংদীর ঘোড়াশাল রেলস্টেশন চত্বরে গতকাল আয়োজিত উদ্বোধন অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি ছিলেন রেলপথমন্ত্রী মো. মুজিবুল হক। রেলপথ মন্ত্রণালয়ের সচিব ফিরোজ মো. সালাহ উদ্দিনের সভাপতিত্বে অনুষ্ঠানে অন্যদের মধ্যে সংসদ সদস্য সিরাজুল ইসলাম মোল্লা, কামরুল আশরাফ খান পোটন, ডা. আনোয়ারুল আশরাফ খান দিলীপ, বাংলাদেশ রেলওয়ের মহাপরিচালক আমজাদ হোসেন ও মহাব্যবস্থাপক (পূর্ব) আবদুল হাই প্রমুখ বক্তব্য রাখেন।
উল্লেখ্য, বিএনপি-জামায়াত জোট সরকারের আমলে রেলওয়ের পূর্বাঞ্চলে ৪৪টি ও পশ্চিমাঞ্চলে ১৬টি স্টেশন বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হয়। এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় ২০১৫ সালে পূর্বাঞ্চলে আরও ১২টি স্টেশন বন্ধ হয়। এর আগে বর্তমান সরকার অবসরে যাওয়া কিছু স্টেশন মাস্টারকে চুক্তিভিত্তিক নিয়োগ দিয়ে বন্ধ হয়ে যাওয়া ২০টি স্টেশন চালু করে।
